The Importance of Professional Hedge Trimming

Aside from maintaining a nice appearance, there are a few other reasons why you might want to consider our professional hedge trimming service:

For one, it can help to prevent disease and pests from taking hold. If left untrimmed, hedges can become dense and overcrowded, which provides the perfect environment for pests and diseases to thrive.

It can help them to live longer. When left untrimmed, hedges can become very top-heavy. This puts a lot of strain on the roots and can eventually lead to the hedge toppling over. By getting your hedge trimmed back regularly, you help to keep it healthy and strong, which in turn will help it to live longer.

    Diseased Hedge Care

We specialise in the overall care of your hedges, including hedge disease diagnosis and treatment. If your hedge isn’t growing sufficiently, or it has seen better days, please get in touch with our team to help. Conifer Aphids are a common disease within the UK that you should look out for, which causes unsightly brown patches of dead leaves. If left untreated, it may kill your whole hedge. Our hedge trimming service offers a team of arborists that specialise in the health of many varieties of common trees and hedges found in the UK.

We like to have your garden or building as we find it, which is why we remove any waste generated from the site and dispose of it in an environmentally friendly manner. Our team is fully licensed and regulated to carry waste and dispose of it, which we do by turning waste into compost, which is later used as fertiliser on a local farm.
At certain times of the year, particularly spring and summer time, birds and their young nest in hedges. We do our best to be environmentally friendly when carrying out our services, so we do the appropriate checks before starting any project to avoid harming wildlife. If you are looking to avoid disturbing birds completely, you may want to look at trimming your hedgerows in early January and February.
We’d recommend cutting your conifer hedge twice a year, once every six months. It’s best to employ our services between August and September, as this is when conifers have shed their needles, making trimming a smoother process with less damage to your bushes.
Generally speaking, the best time for hedge trimming in the UK is during the late spring or early summer. This is when most hedges are growing the most, so you'll be able to get a nice, even trim. However, if you're looking to achieve a certain shape with your hedge, you may want to trim it more frequently. If so, late summer or early fall is the best time to do so. This is because the hedges will have had time to fill out and will be less likely to suffer from shock when trimmed.
There are a few things you can look for to see if your hedges need to be trimmed.

-First, take a step back and look at them from a distance. If they seem to be getting out of control or are starting to block views, then they probably need to be trimmed.

-Another thing you can do is run your hand along the length of the hedge. If you feel any branches that are significantly longer than the others, then it's time for a trim.

-You can also look for any dead or dying branches. These should be removed to help encourage new growth.

-Finally, if you notice any pests or diseases, it's best to trim the affected areas right away to help prevent the problem from spreading.
